I managed to darken a pair of mid brown leather shoes I had, by mistakenly using a polish that was too dark. It seems to be hold this color too. I think maybe if the leather is rougher it would absorb whatever polish you put on it and gradually darken with repeat application of the darker polish.

Your shoes seem to have a bit of a shine to them, I would think you would need to rough up the leather a bit before you could get it to take on a darker polish.

Whatever you do, test it on a small section which is out of sight in case it goes wrong.

Hey Rob

This is tough to make out, the letters are a bit blurry.
Do you have macro mode on your camera so you can get a crisper image of it and the surrounding writing?

I'm pretty good at deciphering peoples hand writing, but this one is tricky. You're right though, the first name does look a bit like shtauy...but that doesnt seem like a name to me.

On Questiondoes anyone know the signature

It's still pretty tough to make this out, I'm assuming the second image is a trace of the signature to help clarify it. The strange thing with the original is the horizontal strokes across the part of the first and second name letters. These are almost like the cross strokes in the letter 'T' in some old scripts. The big letter of the surname could also be an 'S' and well as an 'R'. There also looks to be a faint lower case 'p' at the end of the surname.

It's a great pastel by the way.
