Whats the incubation time for getting a cold or flu

Details

I've been exposed to a couple of people that have the flu or heavy cold and I'm just wondering what the incubation time between contact/infection and symptoms appearing is?

Cold and flu symptoms usually appear within 2-3 days after infection, but that would depend largely on the state of your immune system at the time of infection. If you were deflated and "run down" when you were exposed to the infection, you would obviously have a greater chance of being affected by it and it may hit you sooner than a person in better physical health.
