Whats the purpose of this power supply plug

Ok I have blown the power supply on my desktop computer and I have unplugged it and unscrewed it all. I have 2 other old machines I can use the power supplies from. Only one has this plug on it though which my desktop machine has.
What's the purpose of this plug? One of the other machines I think it's an old dual p3 box, doesn't have this plug yet the Wattage is about the same as I need to replace my broken supply.

That won't be a problem the 300w PSU will work fine. With PSU's its always better to have a little more wattage than too little. Modern equipment, extra pci cards and big graphics cards can draw a load on the power. So you don't want to be short on it.

So it doesn't matter if the wattage on the replacement power supply is 300w and the old one is 220W?

The cpu is a P4 2.4ghz.

You ill need to use the power supply that has one of those connectors...this connecter is a 12volt power supply going to the CPU. Without it you won't be getting far.
