Which is faster wireless router or wired internet

Details

On ADSL 1.5Mbps plan, is it faster to have a wireless router or to connect my machine directly to my old ADSL modem? I certainly like the idea of being wireless around the house, but will it make my browsing more sluggish?

Wireless routers in the 802.11g standard can go up to 54Mb/s which isn't going to transfer data as fast as having a wired solution which is probably going to be 100Mb/s through the ethernet ports of the router.

Having said that you'll only notice the problem if you are using a wireless router/hub to transfer data around your own network between computers.

If we are strictly talking about the speed of surfing the net through hard wired versus wireless, then you wont notice a difference because the speed of the wifi far exceeds the speed of your 1.5Mb/s ADSL connection that it's connected to.
